Today, Thursday, November 14, our President, Guillermo Whpei, and our Executive Director, Marina Sala, returned to Chile to stand with our Chilean brothers and sisters, supporting their demands and expressing solidarity with the situation they are going through.

In the morning, they met with human rights organizations at the Casa Memoria José Domingo Cañas, where they read the preliminary report on the systematic human rights violations taking place every day. There, they listened to victims, victims' relatives and activists who are out on the streets demanding change to an unsustainable reality. We are facing terrifying practices and levels of widespread violence; these are not isolated cases. The numbers of people injured, arbitrarily and illegally detained, and tortured grow day by day, and the Carabineros police do not stop repressing, criminalizing the legitimate right to peaceful protest.

​Then they continued on to the Casa Central of the University of Chile, where they held a press conference before activists, students, teachers and the general public. There, the preliminary report was presented with the changes and suggestions received at the previous meeting.

​These are the first steps. The mission continues. Our Chilean brothers and sisters have our full support. You are not alone. We will continue to raise our voices, exposing the criminal practices being carried out by Sebastián Piñera's government and its so-called forces of order.
