About us

Once you know, there is no going back.

We are a non-profit civil society organization with no party affiliation, dedicated to defending human rights and democracy. We hold special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), granted in 2019 and renewed in 2024. Our mission is to promote, spread and strengthen the values of democracy and sound institutions.

Our work rests on two core pillars:

  • the fight for human rights
  • a culture of peace

We do this by designing and running programs and actions that bring visibility to issues that have been normalized to the point of invisibility, such as modern slavery, urban violence and discrimination. We seek to lift the veil and make visible what has been normalized, because we believe that once you know, there is no going back — and that is where we can start working on real, sustainable and achievable solutions.

In this context, our International Museum for Democracy — the world’s first private museum dedicated to democracy — plays a special role: through its exhibitions and its program of activities, we move toward building a better democracy.
